You don’t need a study permit

You can study in Canada for less than 6 months without a study permit if you have valid visitor status. Depending on your situation, you’ll need one of the following:

If you’re 18 and over, you must also qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller to come to Canada as an international student, regardless of the amount of time you’re planning to study.

Reasons why you might need a study permit

Getting a study permit, even if you don’t need one, has benefits.

For example, if it takes longer than 6 months after you arrive in Canada to finish your program, you’ll need a study permit.

If you’re studying in Quebec

You don’t need to apply for a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) if you’re coming to Canada to study for less than 6 months.
