LCC Fellowship Program

The Law Commission of Canada Fellowship Program provides outstanding recent law graduates with intensive and extensive research experience, as well as an opportunity to develop critical analysis and writing abilities. Fellows also benefit from mentorship on the part of the LCC President.

During their one-year Fellowship with the LCC, Fellows participate in a wide variety of tasks, including engagement with stakeholders through different activities, such as roundtables and conferences, and research and writing on the LCC’s substantive legal projects. There is also opportunity for Fellows to take a lead role in a substantive LCC project. The fellowship invites bold and original insights on law reform in Canada.

To be named as a Fellow, an individual must have graduated from a Canadian faculty of law within the past five years, have outstanding academic records, excellent research and writing skills, experience working in a collaborative environment, curiosity and willingness to learn, and a demonstrated commitment to contributing to the work of the LCC. Fellows should have at least a basic capacity in their second official language. Training in both common law and civil law, knowledge of additional legal traditions, a graduate degree, and clerkship experience are all considered assets.

The inaugural LCC Fellows for 2023-2024 are Meg Pearson and Jeanne Mayrand-Thibert.
