Parks Canada presented two speciality prizes and one Parks Canada award to four Island students at the Provincial Heritage Fair on May 19. The awards were presented to students for their outstanding projects on a national historic site on Prince Edward Island or a person, place, or event of national historic significance.
As part of Budget 2016, the Government of Canada announced free admission in 2017 for all visitors to national parks, national historic sites, and national marine conservation areas operated by Parks Canada. Today, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, Catherine McKenna announced that lockage will also be free for boaters in 2017.
Waterton Lakes National Park is ready to welcome visitors for the 2016 season. This year, Parks Canada is continuing to improve its visitor offer with even more innovative and educational events and activities as well as new investments in visitor facilities.
