Today, the Honourable Ruby Sahota, Minister of Democratic Institutions and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced a $19 million combined repayable investment to support nine companies as they manufacture and/or adopt clean technologies to produce environmentally sustainable products.
Today, the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, announced $4.79 million in funding for ten projects as part of the Canada Nature Fund for Aquatic Species at Risk (CNFASAR). This investment directly supports conservation and recovery for aquatic species at risk in BC.

Today, the Honourable Mark Holland, Minister of Health, and the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced $10 million in additional funding to the Gairdner Foundation through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). This new investment, provided in Budget 2024, will be used to increase the value of Gairdner’s flagship prize, the Canada Gairdner International Award, from $100,000 to $250,000. Five of these awards are given annually to outstanding biomedical scientists whose unique scientific contributions have increased the understanding of human biology and disease.
