On August 12, 2026, Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities announced 141 municipal adaptation projects receiving around $34.2 million through the Green Municipal Fund’s Local Leadership for Climate Adaptation initiative.

Sarnia has modernized its transit facilities, expanded and upgraded its transit fleet with 20 new buses , and improved the reliability and accessibility of public transportation services through an investment of more than $4.7 million from the Government of Canada, more than $3.7 million from the Government of Ontario, and more than $2.7 million from the City of Sarnia.
