Public hearing for Cameco's Port Hope Conversion Facility licence renewal and participant funding offering

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) will hold a public hearing on November 9 and 10, 2016 in Port Hope, ON, to consider an application from Cameco Corporation to renew its nuclear fuel facility operating licence for the Port Hope Conversion Facility. Through its Participant Funding Program, the CNSC is offering up to $50,000 in funding to assist members of the public, Aboriginal groups and other stakeholders in reviewing Cameco's licence renewal application and participating in the Commission hearing process.


Canada obtains WENRA observer status

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) recently gained observer status in the Western European Nuclear Regulators Association (WENRA). The CNSC made the request to become an observer, to promote the exchange of experiences with fellow regulators and learn from international best practices.


CNSC renews the Darlington Nuclear Power Reactor Operating Licence

Following a two-part public hearing, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) announced today its decision to renew Ontario Power Generation Inc.'s (OPG) Nuclear Power Reactor Operating Licence for the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station (NGS) located in the Municipality of Clarington, ON. The licence will be valid from January 1, 2016 until November 30, 2025.
