Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Governor General Michaëlle Jean today unveiled Canada's newly minted Victoria Cross medal at a formal ceremony at Rideau Hall.
This year, International Museum Day will take place on Sunday, May 18 and celebrate the theme "Museums as Agents of Social Change and Development." This theme could not have been better chosen; two months ago, Parliament adopted legislation to establish the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, a national museum under the Museums Act. This new institution will highlight Canada's deep-seated commitment to respect for human rights, the rule of law, freedom, and democracy.
