The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, took the opportunity while in Baie-Comeau today to unveil the first phase of his 2008-2011 Strategic Plan entitled Major Economic and Tourism Facilities to local stakeholders. Backed by a $67 million budget over three years, this phase will be devoted to the establishment of community economic facilities and to the development of major tourism projects centred on four main elements.

The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today announced that the Corporation Plein-air Manicouagan will receive $1,000,000 in non-repayable funding toward development of the Centre d'expérience glaciaire, an ice experience centre, in Baie-Comeau. This forward-looking project, designed in the spirit of sustainable development and a testimony to local dynamism, will necessitate an overall investment of $9,044,437 and result in the creation of 31 new jobs in the area.

Health Canada is warning consumers not to use Vigoureux, an unauthorized product promoted for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. The product may pose serious health risks, as it was found to contain the prescription drug sildenafil, which is not indicated on the label and should only be used under the supervision of a health care professional. Patients with pre-existing medical conditions, including those with heart problems, those taking heart medications, or those at risk for strokes, may be at an increased risk of serious health effects associated with the use of this product.
