The Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and the Honourable Marjory LeBreton, Leader of the Government in the Senate and Secretary of State (Seniors), has launched the latest Call for Applications under the New Horizons for Seniors Program for the fiscal year 2008-2009. In total, $19.5 million in funding is available across Canada - under the Community Participation and Leadership funding component - to support local projects by non-profit organizations that encourage seniors to contribute to their communities and improve their social well-being. The Program is accepting applications for funding from now until June 13, 2008.

The Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, and the Member of the National Assembly for Papineau and Chief Whip for the Quebec Government, Norman MacMillan, on behalf of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Regions, Nathalie Normandeau, are pleased to announce that the Municipality of Boileau will receive $95,655 under the federal-provincial agreement on the transfer of a portion of federal gasoline excise tax revenues and the Government of Québec's contribution. This is the first payment to Boileau which will receive a total of $239,141 by the end of 2009, for important infrastructure projects.
