The Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, and the Minister of Labour and Minister responsible for the Lanaudière Region, David Whissell, on behalf of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Regions, Nathalie Normandeau, are pleased to announce that the City of Berthierville will receive $278,415 under the federal-provincial agreement on the transfer of a portion of federal gasoline excise tax revenues and the Government of Québec's contribution. This is the first payment to Berthierville which will receive a total of $696,039 by the end of 2009 for important infrastructure projects.
Our fallen soldier, Private Terry Street, 24, of the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia's Light Infantry, based at Canadian Forces Base Shilo, Manitoba, is scheduled to return home to Canada tomorrow.
Canada's Environment Minister John Baird and Parliamentary Secretary Rod Bruinooge, on behalf of the Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs, today announced that another National Park Reserve will be created in Canada's north. The Nááts'ihch'oh National Park Reserve will be situated in the Sahtú Settlement Area of the Northwest Territories in the upper South Nahanni watershed, and is one and a half times the size of Prince Edward Island.
