The Government of Canada provided excellent news today to numerous maple syrup producers in the Madawaska-Restigouche region by announcing investments totaling nearly $1.4 million toward seven maple syrup industry projects

In the summer of 2014, extensive consultation occurred with industry experts to determine options to advance the project within the current budget envelope. The Government of Canada today announced a major investment to support the City of Toronto as it implements Housing First, a proven, evidence-based approach to end homelessness. The announcement was made today by the Honourable Candice Bergen, Minister of State for Social Development, the Honourable Joe Oliver, Minister of Finance, Member of Parliament for Eglinton–Lawrence and Minister Responsible for the Greater Toronto Area, and Bernard Trottier, Member of Parliament for Etobicoke–Lakeshore. The event was hosted by Furniture Bank, an agency that provides newly housed clients with furnishings and household items, moving services and employment training options.

The Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor), announced today an investment to complete network upgrades to deliver enhanced mobile wireless service to 23 First Nations across Northern Ontario.
Today, Justice Minister Peter MacKay announced more than $240,000 in funding for enhancements to services offered by the Snowflake Place for Children and Youth. Snowflake Place for Children and Youth is a Child Advocacy Centre (CAC) operating out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Minister MacKay was accompanied at the announcement by Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages and Member of Parliament for Saint-Boniface, Shelly Glover.
Central Nova, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, will hold a media availability before taking part in a roundtable discussion on protecting Canadians.
