Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, in conjunction with the National Association of Friendship Centres, today announced support for 22 organizations in Alberta through the Urban Partnerships program.

The measure removes unnecessary red tape and is expected to benefit independent breweries and distilleries in communities across Canada by opening up regional markets and generating jobs.
The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular), today announced that she will attend the inauguration of Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović as president of Croatia on February 15, 2015. Ms. Grabar-Kitarović will become the first female Croatian president.

"I was deeply disturbed by the targeted attack against a Shi'a Muslim place of worship in Hayatabad, Pakistan, today that claimed the lives of nearly 20 and left many more injured. This attack comes only two weeks after another place of worship fell victim to senseless violence.
