Bell Let’s Talk
Ombudsman Message | 28 January 2021
Every January, we come together as a nation to help end the stigma around mental health by discussing and sharing our experiences. Initiatives like Bell Let’s Talk go a long way towards raising awareness and helping those in need.
This past year has been tough. Not only have we had to adapt to a global pandemic and isolation, but with that, our mental health has been affected. Some have even lost a loved one, whether pandemic-related or not.
During the past 12 months, the Canadian Armed Forces lost many members, including Master Corporal Matthew Cousins, Sub-Lieutenant Abbigail Cowbrough, Captain Kevin Hagen, Captain Brenden Ian MacDonald, Captain Maxime Miron-Morin, Sub-Lieutenant Matthew Pyke, Captain Jennifer Casey, Corporal James Choi, and Master Seaman Duane Earle.
Please remember that you are never alone – there is always someone out there that will listen.
So I urge you, reach out and get help if you are struggling. Let’s make 2021 a year to be kinder to ourselves and others.
Stay strong. We will get through this together.
