General information

Governance structures

Not applicable. The Parole Board of Canada (PBC) provides data analysis to Public Safety in support of GBA+, as Public Safety Canada is responsible for developing legislative policy.

Human resources

There was 0.75 of a full-time equivalent (FTEs) dedicated to GBA+ implementation in the department in 2018–19. They completed an analysis on the PBC’s sex and gender information practices in order to inform the development of a GBA+ framework.Footnote 1

Major initiatives: results achieved Not applicable. However, in 2018-19, the PBC:
  • appointed a GBA+ Champion representative to lead GBA+.
  • worked to develop a GBA+ framework, which will include information on completing intersectional analysis.
  • held discussions on GBA+ at senior management committees.

Reporting capacity and data

Not applicable as a GBA+ framework was not in place in 2018-19. Although the PBC uses disaggregated gender data, it is not currently being used for GBA+. Gender data is used to inform the PBC’s corporate planning, reporting (e.g., Performance Monitoring Report), and research. An offender’s reported gender is based on data entered in Correctional Service Canada’s (CSC) Offender Management System (from which the PBC extracts all offender profile information). Concerning gender data for Board Members and staff, this information is reported as entered into Human Resources Management System (HRMS).
