Service Standards
Service Standards publicly state the level of performance that citizens can reasonably expect to encounter from the PMPRB under normal circumstances.
Timeliness service standards for high-volume regulatory authorizations clarify expectations and increase predictability in the federal regulatory system. They benefit the many Canadians, particularly businesses, who must seek permission from the federal government to either conduct a regulated activity or be exempt from it.
Reviews Conducted by PMPRB Staff:
- Results of the Initial Review and Annual Review are provided to Rights Holders within 60 days of the applicable filing deadline. For more information on filing requirements for Rights Holders, consult Filing Data to the PMPRB.
- Rights Holders are generally notified of the results of PMPRB Staff’s Scientific review within 8 months of the initiation of the In-Depth Review. This may be longer if Staff decide to consult the Human Drug Advisory Panel (HDAP).
- The In-Depth Review process can take between 12 and 28 months to complete, depending on its complexity.
