  • On August 6, 2021, Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan) was created from the department of Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD).
  • PrairiesCan’s mandate is to grow and diversify the Prairie economy and advance Prairie interests in Ottawa.
  • PrairiesCan programs and services support economic growth in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
  • This work has helped businesses grow, communities develop, and Prairie businesses commercialize and adopt technology.
