Final notice of amendment to List A

The purpose of this Final Notice is to notify the amendments to List A: List of certain antimicrobial active pharmaceutical ingredients. This will be the first revision to List A since its inception on November 13, 2017.

Health Canada conducted a literature-based examination of antimicrobial drugs against a set of established criteria and identified additional antimicrobial agents to be considered for inclusion or reclassification on List A. Proposed amendments to List A are outlined in Proposed List A – 2022.

The notice of proposal to amend List A was communicated to stakeholders through launching a consultation on the Health Canada website, and the comment period ran from March 07 to June 06, 2022. The World Trade Organization (WTO) was also notified as part of our international obligations and the notification period closed at the end of the public consultation on June 06, 2022. No comments were received during the consultation period, therefore no changes have been made to amendments outlined in Proposed List A – 2022.
