Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder: National Strategic Projects Fund
The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder National Strategic Projects Fund allocates $1.5 million annually to contribute to national projects supporting:
- prevention
- education and knowledge exchange
- coordination of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder activities
The fund is designed to do this through:
- evaluation
- knowledge and evidence
- systems capacity development
- knowledge translation and exchange
- leadership, co-ordination, and collaboration
It supports the development of nationally applicable practical tools for community-based programs and health and allied professionals, and aims to:
- reduce the number of alcohol-affected births
- improve outcomes for those affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorder
The fund follows our population health approach, which recognizes that many factors influence people's health. It promotes prevention and positive actions that affect the health of the population as a whole, or that of specific population groups.
