LHHR 15-04: Launch of the new Public Service Entrance Exam


The Public Service Commission of Canada is pleased to announce that the Public Service Entrance Exam (PSEE), a suite of unsupervised and supervised tests, is now available to assess candidates for entry-level officer positions in the federal public service.

The PSEE is made up of two components: The Test of Reasoning and the Test of Judgement. These are independent yet complementary tests and can be used in a variety of ways, depending on your assessment needs. They offer an efficient way of identifying promising applicants in the early stages of a selection process. This is a new generation of fair, valid and reliable tests, incorporating internationally recognized best practices in test development. They improve the quality of hire by leveraging technology to screen large volumes of candidates, based on merit. Both tests can first be used via an Unsupervised Internet Testing (UIT) component that selects the top 20 to 80% of applicants, at the manager’s discretion. This approach increases the quality of the applicant pool eligible for further assessment, including the follow-up, supervised test. This method of testing constitutes a proven, time and cost efficient screening process for organizations and test-takers alike.
