New Public Service Commission unsupervised test of reading comprehension for level B or C (20-13)

We’re pleased to announce the release of the unsupervised test of reading comprehension for level B or C. This test completes the suite of tests for assessing second language remotely, joining the second language interviews for levels B and C and the unsupervised test of written expression for level B or C. The tests were developed by the Public Service Commission to help departments and agencies fill bilingual positions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The unsupervised test of reading comprehension for level B or C is administered online, without supervision, allowing candidates to be assessed from home.

The test is available to departments and agencies for new job advertisements posted on GC Jobs. It can be accessed through the Public Service Resourcing System and can be used for all types of appointments (indeterminate, term, acting) for bilingual positions.

Please contact Consultation Services to learn more about the current options for second language assessment.

At this time, the Public Service Commission won’t charge extended jurisdiction departments and agencies (separate employers) for the use of the online unsupervised tests (written expression and reading comprehension), but we may re-evaluate this at a later date.
