Process definition
Under certain circumstances, third parties may request human resources or compensation-related information about a federal government employee.
Employee responsibilities
The employee must provide written confirmation of their consent to disclose part or all of their compensation information to the third party making the request.
The employee must send this written consent, along with a completed pay action request form to the Pay Centre.
In the case of disability files, the employee provides their consent upon completing their employee statement form.

Human resources responsibilities
Individuals working in human resources must refer third parties to the Pay Centre for further assistance related to compensation information.
Note
Third-party requests may include both human resources and compensation-related information.
Pay Centre responsibilities
The Pay Centre is responsible for:
- dealing with all compensation-related requests
- authenticating the third party’s identity before releasing any employee compensation information
- notifying the employee of the third-party request for information
- obtaining the employee’s written consent prior to releasing any information, should the provision of the requested information not be mandated by law
- providing compensation information to the insurer when dealing with disability files
