Use a PIN when you call us
Creating a Personal Identification Number (PIN) can save you time, and provide added security when it comes to protecting your personal information.
Using our PIN service
You can now create a PIN for the individual income tax and benefits enquiries lines. Your PIN will quickly confirm your identity when you call us, while keeping your account safe. You can create a PIN in My Account or with the help of one of our call centre agents.
Why create a PIN
Using a PIN provides added security and will reduce your time on the phone because we’ll be able to confirm your identity before you speak to a CRA agent. With a PIN, it’ll be easier to interact with us because you won’t have to provide detailed information that you may not have readily available
How to create a PIN
Online
You can quickly create a PIN through the CRA’s My Account.
Once you’re logged into My Account, follow these easy steps:
- Go to Personal Profile

- Create PIN (6 digits)
By phone
You can create a PIN with the help of one of our call centre agents, by calling 1-800-959-8281. To create a PIN with an agent, you will need to provide personal information from your tax account.
