2023 Northern Ontario energy credit (NOEC) – Calculation sheet for married or common-law individuals who have or do not have children

Use this calculation if you had a spouse or a common-law partner on December 31, 2022. This calculation applies whether you have children or not.

To be eligible for the NOEC, you, or someone on your behalf, paid at least one of the following amounts for your principal residence in Northern Ontario for 2022:

If your adjusted family net income is:

Calculation

  1. Subtract $59,704.00 from your adjusted family net income for 2022 (if negative, the result is zero).
  2. Multiply A by 1%.
  3. Subtract B from $265.00.
  4. Divide C by 12.

C is your annual NOEC entitlement.

D is your monthly NOEC entitlement.

If your annual NOEC amount plus, if applicable, your annual Ontario sales tax credit and Ontario energy and property tax credit is:

The first monthly 2023 Ontario trillium benefit payment, which includes any NOEC entitlement, will be issued on July 10, 2023.

However, if you made a choice on your 2022 return to wait to receive your 2023 OTB entitlement, it will be issued on June 10, 2024.
