Amount for a person living alone or for a single-parent family:
- In the Information about you section, if the individual is eligible, answer Yes to the question Are you eligible for the Quebec amount for a person living alone?
- Reminder: If the individual is eligible to claim the additional amount for a person living alone, be sure to add the child’s tuition information, if applicable.
- Click Next.
- Click Revenu Québec questions in the left-side menu.

- Complete the A. Information about you section by answering questions according to the individual's situation on December 31 of the year in question.

Were you or your spouse tenants (received a RL-31) or owners on December 31, 2021? drop-down menu is highlighted and contains: Tenant or subtenant (RL-31), Owner, Neither tenant nor owner, and Tenant or subtenant (RL-31) is selected.
Please select to whom a RL-31 was issued is highlighted
Box A Dwelling number is highlighted
Box B Total number of tenants or subtenants is highlighted
- The next part of section A. Information about you is used to determine if the individual is eligible for the housing component. You must indicate if the individual or their spouse are owners, tenants or subtenants, or neither tenant nor owner.
- If you select Tenant or subtenant (RL-31), you must:
- select to whom the RL-31 was issued;
- enter the dwelling number and the total number of tenants as shown in boxes A and B of the RL-31 slip.
- If you select Owner, you must:
- select who were the owners of the dwelling
- enter the roll number or identification number shown on the individual’s or their spouse’s municipal tax bill
- enter the total number of owners living in the dwelling
- If the individual lived in a dwelling in low-rental housing such as an HLM, select Neither tenant nor owner.

- In section B. Information about your spouse, indicate whether the individual has a spouse. If they do, answer the questions that relate to the spouse.
- Click Next.
Tax tip
Note that the amount of the credit is not found anywhere in the income tax return. Revenu Québec will calculate the amount and pay it by direct deposit only on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis, depending on the amount.

Quebec tax shield:
- If the individual is eligible, in the Quebec tax shield section, answer Yes to the question If eligible, do you wish to claim the Quebec tax shield? (for individuals who have a spouse or common-law partner) or to the question Do you wish to claim the Quebec tax shield (for individuals without a spouse or common-law partner)
- Select the calculation method. In this case, we recommend selecting Let Revenu Quebec calculate (recommended).
- Click Next.
UFile tip
If the individual has a spouse or common-law partner, the software will suggest three more possible answers to the question If eligible, do you wish to claim the Quebec tax shield?. Choose the one that best corresponds to the individual's situation.

Do you wish to file a joint Schedule K (and pay any Quebec prescription drug insurance premium for your spouse)? drop-down menu is highlighted and No is selected
- In the case of a couple, the individual can choose to pay their spouse's premium in their Quebec income tax return. Answer the question Do you wish to file a joint Schedule K (and pay the Quebec prescription drug insurance premium for your spouse)?

We recommend you answer No to this question, unless the individual asks you to answer Yes.

Specify the situation that applied to you in 2023 for the purpose of the Quebec prescription drug insurance: drop-down menu is highlighted and contains:
1- Your own group insurance plan, all year
2- Group insurance plan of spouse or a parent, all year
3- Québec prescription drug insurance plan, all year
4- Exceptions, Québec prescription drug insurance plan, all year
5- Exceptions, Québec prescription drug insurance plan, part of the year
- Select the option 1- Your own group plan, all year.
- Click Next.
- Select the option 2- Group insurance plan of spouse or a parent, all year.
- Click Next.
- Select the option 3- Québec prescription drug insurance plan, all year.
- Answer the question Were all your medications free throughout 2024 because of the amount you received as a Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)?
- Click Next.
- Select the option 4- Exceptions, Québec prescription drug insurance plan, all year.
- Answer the question Were all your medications free throughout 2024 because of the amount you received as a Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)?
- You must then specify the exception(s) that corresponds to the situation.
