About the regulations

Under the Fisheries Act, any release or imminent danger of a release of harmful substances in fish-bearing waters must be reported. These regulations allow the public to report them to the authorities in the province or territory where the incident occurred. The authorities will then notify Environment and Climate Change Canada.
