Description

Do you know what an anacoluthon is? What about a zeugma or a solecism? They are all names of problems with sentence structure (or syntax) that can make a translated text ambiguous or even unintentionally hilarious. This workshop will help you recognize these errors in order to avoid them. The workshop will also focus on reviewing the rules for using present participles in English and in French.

Prerequisite

You must already be involved in translating or revising English-to-French texts.

Language

The workshop is given in French; however, you are welcome to use the official language of your choice.

Learning objectives

At the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • recognize and correct anacoluthons, zeugmas and solecisms
  • identify correct and incorrect usage of the present participle in English and in French
