In this workshop focused on machine translation, we will give you suggestions for tackling every translator’s greatest challenge: reformulation. What can you change in your translations to make them sound more idiomatic? In addition to discussing various concepts, including concision and passive voice, we will encourage you to look critically at the output from your machine translation tools.
This workshop will help you ask yourself the right questions so you can make your translations better.

- Specialists in translation or revision (English to French).
- Prerequisite
- You must already be involved in translating or revising English-to-French texts.
- Language
- The workshop is given in French; however, you are welcome to use the official language of your choice.
- Learning objectives
At the end of the workshop, you will:
- recognize some of the weaknesses of machine translation
- know how to address them in order to improve your translations
- be able to spot barriers to readability
