United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals
Introduction
In 2015, all United Nations (UN) member states came together and adopted Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At its heart are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that encompass the social, economic and environmental challenges facing the world.
Many Government of Canada priorities align with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs, including gender equality, diversity and inclusiveness, environmental sustainability, and economic prosperity.
Federal departments and agencies are responsible for integrating the SDGs into their work, engaging with stakeholders and reporting on progress made on the SDGs within their purview.
The table below identifies key examples of Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) strategies, initiatives or areas of work that will contribute to advancing the SDGs.
