2023 In Review

What a busy year for gender equality progress and Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE)! Here are highlights from 2023...

Ending period poverty 

One in five Canadians who menstruate say they may not be able to afford period products at some point in the next 12 months.

The Menstrual Equity Fund (MEF) pilot is addressing the barriers related to affordability and stigma that some Canadians face when accessing menstrual products. Learn more about this pilot, how we’ve partnered with Food Banks Canada and several grassroots organizations, and the next steps in the pilot.

Elevate Aviation wants to show women and girls across Canada that not even the sky is the limit! 

In advance of National Aviation Day on February 23rd, learn how Elevate Aviation is inspiring women to soar in exciting careers and supporting aviation companies to create inclusive work environments where women can thrive and develop into leadership roles.

There is a simple, one-handed gesture that provides a discreet way for people experiencing gender-based violence to ask for help? Shared virally around the world, the Canadian Women’s Foundation’s “Signal for Help” has been credited with saving lives.

In 2023, the Canadian Women’s Foundation also received a Governor General’s Innovation Award for this WAGE-supported project. Learn more and become a Signal for Help Responder
