41 Combat Engineer Regiment was created on 23 November 2006 through the amalgamation of Edmonton’s 8th Field Engineer Regiment (8 FER) and Calgary’s 33rd Field Engineer Squadron (33 FES). Amalgamation means the joining of two or more units into one, with the resulting unit being entitled to the combined honours and history of the constituent units. 41 CER was officially stood-up on September 6, 2008 at The Military Museums in Calgary, Alberta.
