Donating as a Retiree

Together, We Can Improve the Lives of Canadians Across the Country

Every year, federal retirees join forces to support causes they care about through the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC). Across the country our most vulnerable communities are struggling with food insecurity, higher cost of living and serious illness. Through the GCWCC, federal retirees can make a difference by supporting HealthPartners, their local United Way Centraide or thousands of registered charities across Canada. Together, we’re building stronger communities and healthier people nationwide.

Did You Know?

  • Most Canadians — 82%— make a financial donation to charity.
  • Last year, federal retirees donated over $3.2 million through the GCWCC.
  • Every donation allows us to act now, and, in the long term, support those most impacted by COVID-19.

Why Give?

The GCWCC is an extension of what public servants do: improve the lives of Canadians. In 2023, public servants and retirees gave $28.7 million to charities across Canada as part of the campaign.

To see how donations make a difference, we invite you to read the stories about people whose lives were changed by GCWCC donations. Together, we can have a tremendous impact on the lives of those in need.
