Leaving Correctional Service Canada
When you leave your job, you must make sure that:
- your pension information is updated
- the Pay Centre does not owe you any payments such as:
- balance of salary
- severance pay, or
- outstanding leave balances
- your disability status is updated (if this applies to you)
At CSC
In this section, you will find all the information you need when you leave the organization. When leaving Correctional Service Canada (CSC), you must complete the form 0816e - Departure Clearance for Employee/Contractor and Other (Internal link to PDF)
CSC also invites you to complete a questionnaire and an exit interview. These 2 steps are optional.
Employee departure questionnaire
CSC developed a voluntary employee departure questionnaire for term and indeterminate employees leaving the department. All responses are anonymous and confidential. The online employee departure questionnaire (internal link) takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
For any questions about the employee departure questionnaire please contact GEN-NAT EDQ-QDE.
Exit interview
A voluntary exit interview provides valuable information about a departing employee's experience with CSC. Discussions in an exit interview can cover an array of topics, including:
- operations
- managerial styles
- wellness
- learning and development
This interview should focus only on the workplace to establish areas for improvement and offer you the opportunity to share constructive criticism in a private, neutral and safe place.
You will be asked questions that will allow CSC to:
- better understand their overall experience working at CSC
- get a sense of their opinion on the culture of the organization
- determine whether the job training and/or onboarding process was sufficient
- understand the reasons they joined the organization and their reason(s) for leaving
- take note of recommendations for improving the work environment
There is no specific time that an exit interview should or needs to take place. It can be as soon as you announce your departure or once you have left the organization.
