Step 3. What you need before you start

Interested applicants are encouraged to refer to the Eligibility details, Terms of Reference, and read the Privacy Statement on this page before submitting their application through the Nomination Questionnaire. The Nomination Questionnaire will be used in the assessment of how candidates meet the selection criteria for the area of Panel membership to which they are seeking a nomination.

The Nomination Questionnaire requests each applicant to clearly state his/her eligibility status, indicate his/her selection criteria area, and respond to diversity questions. The Questionnaire also asks applicants about availability, fields of expertise, areas of knowledge, and previous experience related to early learning and child care issues. The Nomination Questionnaire, also asks applicants for examples which demonstrate the applicant’s previous experience with early learning and child care, their level of involvement in relevant projects or initiatives (for example, role, duration of their involvement or time commitment, etc.), and their contribution and achieved results.

You may only submit one Nomination Questionnaire.

Selection Criteria for persons with experience of early learning and child care

Individuals with experience in early learning and child care (including those representing Indigenous groups and racialized communities) from areas such as academia, service delivery, leaders and social actors, and/or international expertise who are interested in becoming a member of the Expert Panel on Early Learning and Child Care can submit their application by filling out a Nomination Questionnaire.

If you have experience in using early learning and child care or if you are an early learning and child care service provider, you can submit a nomination for the Expert Panel on Early Learning and Child Care.

To be considered, the nomination should include examples of how you or the individual you are nominating meets each of the following requirements:

  • Ability to participate in discussions, including clearly presenting ideas, listening to others, and suggesting ways to find solutions.
  • Available and willing to participate as an Expert Panel member for a 24-month period.
  • Is a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a protected person within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Before submitting your nomination

Please ensure that the candidate is interested in participating in the expert panel; they were informed of, and provided with, the privacy statement; they agree to be nominated; and they agree to be contacted by Employment and Social Development Canada for the purposes of the selection process for this expert panel.
