This online questionnaire invites your input to help create Canada’s third Voluntary National Review in 2027. This review will focus on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, and is led by Employment and Social Development Canada.
About this consultation
We are inviting a wide range of contributions that demonstrate efforts made since Canada's last Voluntary National Review in 2023.
Your input may be included in Canada's 2027 Voluntary National Review.
We are particularly interested in submissions that highlight:
- Innovative initiatives and solutions;
- Effective partnerships and collaborations;
- Community-led actions/local leadership that show measurable results and demonstrated impact; and
- Efforts that have strengthened resilience or addressed barriers to sustainable development.
Your submission might be featured as a quote, story, testimonial, example, or case study in the final report.
Why this matters now
With less than five years remaining to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, Canada is taking stock of progress since 2023 and identifying opportunities to accelerate action where challenges remain.
As we approach the final years of the 2030 Agenda, Canada is looking to engage governments, Indigenous Peoples, businesses, civil society, academia, and individuals in accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. The 2027 Voluntary National Review will showcase progress, identify persistent challenges, and highlight opportunities for a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
Canada remains committed to the principle of leaving no one behind, and focusing on the experiences and perspectives of people and communities who face barriers to full participation in society and the economy.
The insights gathered will help shape a comprehensive understanding of progress and ongoing challenges in advancing sustainable development across the country, and ensure that Canada's report reflects the experiences, innovations and perspectives of people and communities across Canada. The consultation will also help identify practical actions and promising approaches that can drive progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
The 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by world leaders at a historic United Nations Summit in September 2015. This global framework spans 15 years and is centered around 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These goals are distinct yet interconnected, collectively calling for action from all countries to address the world's most pressing challenges.
The 2030 Agenda envisions a world free of poverty and hunger, where everyone has access to quality education, universal health coverage, and decent work opportunities. It aims for the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, while also striving to end environmental degradation. The 2030 Agenda is universal and is grounded in the principle of leaving no one behind in the pursuit of sustainable development.

Canada’s Voluntary National Review on the Sustainable Development Goals
Moving Forward Together - Canada's 2030 Agenda National Strategy reaffirms Canada's commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals through a whole-of-society approach.
Canada's 2027 Voluntary National Review will reflect on progress made since 2023, identify ongoing gaps and challenges, and highlight opportunities to accelerate action toward the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
The Review will showcase Canadian experiences, innovations, and partnerships and demonstrate how governments, Indigenous Peoples, businesses, civil society organizations, academia, and communities are collaborating to build a more resilient, inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable future.
The Government of Canada recognizes the distinct rights, perspectives, priorities, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples in advancing sustainable development.

Who is the focus of this consultation
The Government of Canada welcomes input from a wide range of perspectives, including:
- members of the public (individuals from across Canada); and
- Sustainable Development Goals partners and stakeholders, including organizations and individuals actively involved in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (for example, civil society, Indigenous partners, academia, the private sector, and governments)
Whether your contribution is local, national, or international in scope, your experiences and insights can help inform Canada's 2027 Voluntary National Review.
Key questions for discussion
The questions aim to gather diverse perspectives and experiences related to sustainable development and the theme of resilience.
Your ideas and input are sought around four topics:
- resilience in Canada
- economic resilience
- societal resilience
- environmental resilience
We encourage you to share specific examples, initiatives, successes, challenges, and lessons learned, rather than general observations.
We are particularly interested in actions, partnerships, policies, programs, innovations, and community initiatives that have strengthened resilience and contributed to sustainable development outcomes since 2023.
Your response to the questionnaire, as well as the results of any consultations you undertake and choose to submit, may be used to inform a range of reporting and communication products, such as:
- Canada's 2027 Voluntary National Review on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, and
- related Government of Canada communications on the Sustainable Development Goals.
