Share your thoughts: Proposed amendments to the Output-Based Pricing System Regulations
Current status: closed
This consultation opened on November 9, 2024, and closed to new input on January 8, 2025.
Environment and Climate Change Canada sought feedback on the proposed Regulations Amending the Output-Based Pricing System Regulations (proposed Regulations). These amendments are proposed to enable the cross-recognition of certain Canadian offset credits under the proposed Oil and Gas Sector Greenhouse Gas Emissions Cap Regulations and the federal Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS).
In practice, these proposed changes would not change how offset credits and recognized units are remitted under the OBPS. The changes would allow for the same offset credit or recognized unit to be remitted by the same operator under the OBPS and the proposed Oil and Gas Sector Greenhouse Gas Emissions Cap Regulations for coinciding remittance obligations and under the conditions identified in these proposed regulations.
The comments received will be considered when developing the final Regulations.
