Annual bank reports on the implementation of the Code of Conduct for the Delivery of Banking Services to Seniors

The Code of Conduct for the Delivery of Banking Services to Seniors (PDF) (Code) requires banks to publish annually on their websites a report on the steps they have taken to support the Code’s principles and any other steps they have taken to improve banking services to seniors. Banks are also required to provide a copy of their reports to Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC).

FCAC received 2022 reports from all members of the Canadian Bankers Association with customers who meet the definition of a senior under the Code (an individual in Canada aged 60 years and older). FCAC conducted an analysis of the reports to assess the Code’s implementation. In areas where improvements are required, FCAC will communicate its expectations to banks and use its Supervision Framework to help them improve and update their services and information for seniors.

By publishing these reports, FCAC is promoting consumer awareness of how banks are meeting their obligations under the Code and helping seniors to access information that serves their interests in one place.
