Summit on Standards on Arthritis Prevention and Care - Alliance for the Canadian Arthritis Program Twelve standards for arthritis prevention and care were identified.  For each of these standards, action plans were developed and facilitators and potential barriers were identified.
Strategy to Address Hip and Knee Surgery Wait Times - Bone and Joint Canada The project established a framework/model of care for hip and knee surgery.
Hip and Knee Surgery Wait Times Strategy - Phase III  - Bone and Joint Canada The project compiled and integrated resources and best practices from across the country.  The resources were then included in a comprehensive toolkit that was shared nationally to help in the implementation of a Core Model of Care.
Manitoba Demonstration Project in Physician Demand-Side Control for Diagnostic Imaging - Canadian Association of Radiologists The project imbedded Canadian Association of Radiologists decision support guidelines into a new diagnostic imaging computerized order entry software system in a children's hospital setting.
Demand-Side Control in Diagnostic Imaging in a Primary Care Setting - Canadian Association of Radiologists The project imbedded Canadian Association of Radiologists decision support guidelines into an electronic order entry system for diagnostic imaging in a primary care setting.
Wait Time Management Training Module - Canadian Medical Association The project developed a wait time management training module for health professionals (physicians, nurses, hospital administrators, executives and policy makers).  The principal objective was to provide health professionals with strategies to address the systemic challenge of wait times for health care service.
Emergency Department Standards Development and Accreditation Program - Accreditation Canada The project developed national Emergency Health Services standards for acute care emergency departments, including standards related to wait times measurement and management, which were incorporated into Accreditation Canada's accreditation program.
Children Wait Too: National Paediatric Surgical Wait Times Strategy - Canadian Association of Paediatric Health Centres A strategy was developed to establish national access targets for ten paediatric surgical subspecialties; determine the number of children across Canada who are not receiving care within established access targets; develop strategies to optimally manage wait times; assess the system's capacity to provide timely care; and develop resource allocation recommendations.
National Paediatric Surgical Wait Time Pilot Project  - The Hospital for Sick Children The project included the development and implementation of a pan-Canadian database for the collection of wait time information and the analysis of this data against standardized access targets in six areas: cardiac surgery, cancer surgery, neurosurgery, strabismus surgery (correction of wandering eyes), scoliosis surgery (spinal deformity), and dental treatment requiring anaesthesia, and a clinical pathway guideline for timely access to cancer surgery.
Saint Elizabeth Health Care Wait Time Guarantee Pilot: For the Prevention, Treatment and Care of Diabetic Foot Ulcers in Manitoba First Nations Communities - Saint Elizabeth Health Care A model of care for patients with diabetic foot ulcers was developed which sets out the nature of care that should be provided to prevent and treat foot ulcers and identifies the partners that should be involved in care.
It's About Time! Achieving Benchmarks and Best Practices in Wait Time Management - Wait Time Alliance for Timely Access to Health Care The project developed and published recommendations on a set of a wait times benchmarks in the five priority areas identified in the 2004 Health Accord.  In addition, it developed:
  • A Wait-Time Code which proposes rights and responsibilities of patients and citizens, providers and governments regarding the effective use of wait-time benchmarks; and
  • A 4M Toolbox of strategies that sets out a menu of initiatives that provincial governments, regional health authorities, health care institutions, and practitioners can employ to Mitigate, Measure, Monitor and Manage wait times.
