Your IRCC application:

Update your contact information

You must keep your contact information (address, email and phone number) up to date. How to update this information depends on what information has changed. If you’re an authorized person managing an application for someone, follow these instructions for them.

Did you use the IRCC Portal – New version to apply?

You can update your contact information directly in your account if you used the IRCC Portal – New version to apply for a visitor visa, super visa, or Canadian passport.

Go to the IRCC Portal – New version

Keep your contact information up to date

To avoid processing delays or other issues with your application, you must tell us when your contact information changes.

If you’re already in Canada, we may need to contact you to verify that your documents are valid or that you’re following the conditions of your stay. If your contact information isn’t up to date, you won’t receive or be able to respond to our verification request, which could impact:

  • your current status in Canada
  • the status of your document
  • future applications you submit to us

Do you need to update your application information?

We have different instructions for updating the information in your application when something in your life changes (for example: you get married or have a child).

Update your application information

Update your address (mailing or residential)

How you update your address depends on what you applied for and where you submitted your application.

Keep checking your old address until we update your information. We may try to contact you using your old information.
