Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot: Direct to permanent residence category

The Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot were 5-year pilot programs that let qualified caregivers and their family members come to Canada with the goal of becoming permanent residents.

The Direct to permanent residence category was for applicants (and their family members) who already had enough work experience to qualify for permanent residence.

As of June 16, 2024, you now only need 6 months of eligible Canadian work experience to qualify for permanent residence. New
