Who is eligible for revalidation
To be eligible for revalidation, you must meet these requirements:
- You have documents that prove you’ve been incorporated for at least 2 years.
- You can prove:
- the president or chair (or an equal position), main contact and all representatives with sponsorship signing authority:
- are eligible to sponsor
- are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, or have registered Indian status
- have completed a criminal record check in the last 6 months
- there is no information that would keep us from signing a new agreement with you
We’ll use this information to complete a background check. You must pass this check to be revalidated.
- the president or chair (or an equal position), main contact and all representatives with sponsorship signing authority:
- You give us financial statements from your most recent financial year that are:
- dated in the last 18 months
- audited by a chartered professional accountant (licensed in the province or territory you’re based in)
- You pass a financial viability assessment that we complete using your audited financial statements.
- Your main contact and all representatives with sponsorship signing authority complete the SAH renewal training. Contact the Refugee Sponsorship Training Program to learn how to sign up.
- You must submit valid certificates that show they completed this training by February 1, 2023.
If you’re a new SAH
When organizations apply to become SAHs, we assess and validate them as part of the application process.
If you sign your agreement within 1 year of the next assessment date, we won’t require you to submit another assessment.
If you sign your agreement more than 1 year before the next assessment date, you must do the assessment.
