If your work permit is approved, you’ll need to apply for a Social Insurance number (SIN) and health insurance for yourself and your dependents. You may be able to extend your stay in Canada or apply for permanent residence.

You’ll need to get a SIN as soon as you arrive in Canada before you can start working.

Make sure that you and any dependants coming with you to Canada either have:
- provincial or territorial health insurance, or
- enough money in case you need medical attention
