Today, Viviane Lapointe, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, announced a FedNor investment of $850,145 for Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION) to help grow Northern Ontario’s music, film and television industries. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for FedNor, and is expected to create and maintain close to 45 full-time jobs.
The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the following diplomatic appointments:
Angad Singh Dhillon will become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Dhillon will replace Radha Krishna Panday.
Carmen Sorger will become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Cuba. Ms. Sorger will replace Marianick Tremblay.
Angad Singh Dhillon most recently served as Director of Operations and Stakeholder Relations in the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada. As one of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s closest advisers, he supported the Prime Minister in re-engaging Canada’s diplomatic relationships with key bilateral partners, including India and China, by helping restore high-level channels of communication and cooperation. He also led stakeholder coordination to secure incoming investment commitments into Canada, including the development and planning of Canada’s inaugural national Investment Summit. He also previously served as Chief of Staff to two federal Cabinet ministers in the small business and transport portfolios. In these roles, he supported Canada’s engagements at the G7, G20, UN General Assembly, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, International Transport Forum and Conference of the Parties.

The Honourable Lena Metlege Diab, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, will hold a press conference in St. John’s to unveil innovative projects to strengthen Francophone immigration in Newfoundland and Labrador and other Francophone minority communities outside Quebec. Minister Metlege Diab will be joined by the Honourable Lin Paddock, Minister of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development for Newfoundland and Labrador. A media availability will follow.
The Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security program invited 22 innovators from six countries to demonstrate emerging counter-drone technologies as part of its Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems (CUAS) Sandbox 2026.
