The objective of the internships of the Carrefour de Solidarité Internationale de Sherbrooke [international solidarity centre in Sherbrooke] (CSI) is to encourage better job integration in Canada and abroad, especially in international development, for young Canadians.
Youth internship projects offer great opportunities for young Canadians to acquire work experience abroad and to help them become truly engaged global citizens.
The recruitment of children, and sexual violence against boys and girls, are among the most heinous acts in war and conflict. Forced to become fighters, messengers, porters and spies, child soldiers are exposed to the dangers and horrors of war that scar them for life. It is tragic, criminal and constitutes a gross and unconscionable violation of human rights.
As part of the 2018 International Mobility Week, the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, will deliver remarks at Sherbrooke University regarding a contribution agreement between the Government of Canada and the Carrefour de Solidarité Internationale de Sherbrooke [Sherbrooke international solidarity centre].
Implemented by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), this initiative will provide more than 630,000 women with increased access to, and quality of, sexual and reproductive health services in southern Senegal.
Canada champions sexual and reproductive health and rights for all women and girls globally, particularly the poorest and most vulnerable, to ensure they have access to the services and information they need to have control of their own bodies, lives and futures.
As part of International Development Week 2018 and on behalf of the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, Celina Caesar-Chavannes, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development, will participate in a panel discussion organized by Plan International Canada and Global Affairs Canada called “International development in the #MeToo era - Amplifying the voices and choices of girls and women everywhere.”
The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, today issued the following statement from Cotonou, Benin:
Internships abroad are a great way for Canadian youth to gain professional experience and boost their skills and knowledge. They help to prepare youth for future employment and become truly engaged global citizens.
