Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament for Ottawa-Orléans, on behalf of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, today announced infrastructure investments totalling $480,000 for Laurier House National Historic Site, located in Ottawa.
Laurier House National Historic Site has an extensive collection of over 10,000 artefacts that have direct links to Prime Ministers Sir Wilfrid Laurier and the Rt. Hon. William Lyon Mackenzie King. The house and collection are unique as nearly all the original furnishings, décor and artefacts remain in place. The collection is directly related to the significance of the national historic designation of the house. It is estimated that the collection is valued in excess of $25M, and many artefacts are irreplaceable.
