Ombudsman to Honour Members of Canada’s Defence Community at the 20th Annual Liz Hoffman Commendation Ceremony

Message from the Ombudsman | 19 October 2021

I invite members of Canada’s Defence community to the Ombudsman’s 20th annual Liz Hoffman Memorial Commendation ceremony. Again this year, we are hosting this ceremony virtually to respect public health guidelines.

Join us on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/dndcfombudsman) at 10:00 a.m. EDT on Thursday, October 21, 2021, to congratulate this year’s five extraordinary recipients: Lieutenant Colonel Tricia MacLeod, Ms. Shelly Hopkins, Ms. Monica Bobbitt, Ms. Kim Mills, and Ms. Leanne Pelley. These recipients went above and beyond their regular duties to seek positive resolutions to difficult and often complex situations.

As well, our ceremony will include video messages from our special guests: the Acting Chief of Defence Staff, General Wayne Eyre; Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant-General Frances Allen; Surgeon General Major General Marc Bilodeau; Mr. Serge Tremblay, Mr. David Thompson, and Miss Marcelle Gaudreault from the Canadian Forces Housing Agency; Mr. Sean Cantelon from the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services; and Dr. Andrea Hoffman, Liz Hoffman’s daughter.

Liz Hoffman was an investigator with our office who had a deeply rooted sense of fairness and was a tremendous force for positive change. This commendation allows us to recognize those in the Defence community who, like Liz, are dedicated to helping others and bringing about positive and lasting change to the Defence community. Learn more about the Liz Hoffman Memorial Commendation on our website.
