Happy and Healthy Holidays
Ombudsman Message | 21 December 2021
Members of the Defence community,
2021 was another unique year for our Defence community. You should be proud of the challenges that you have overcome in Canada, around the world, and in your personal lives, especially during these uncertain times.
This year, our Canadian Armed Forces and National Defence employees continued to demonstrate their resiliency and dedication by serving in operations in ways we never anticipated. Our Regular and Reserve Forces—and the civilian employees and staff of the Non-public funds who support them—have responded admirably to emergencies due to COVID-19, fires, and floods across Canada.
As many members of our Defence community will spend this holiday season away from their loved ones, I’d like to say a special “thank you” for your service and dedication.
To family members of the military, thank you for the steadfast support you provide our members, as it ensures that they can take on their crucial work.
I wish all our constituents a happy and safe holiday season.
I encourage you to take care of yourselves and if you're able to, find time to rest, relax, and focus on friends and family. May the New Year bring each of you, and your loved ones, health, joy and peace.
As Ombudsman for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces, my office is ready to help you and your families over the holiday season and in the New Year.
