March 31, 2020 Record Suspension Application Fee Increase (Service Fees Act)

From: Parole Board of Canada

Effective March 31, 2020, the record suspension application fee will increase to $644.88. If your application is mailed and post-marked by Canada Post on or before March 30, 2020, it will be processed under the current fee of $631.

Any applications that are sent after the fee increase takes effect on March 31, 2020 will be processed under the new $644.88 application fee. Applications that include the old fee will be required to make an additional payment to reflect the new fee of $644.88.

This increase is in accordance with the Service Fees Act, which requires departments that charge an application fee to increase their fees on an annual basis according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The increase is mandatory and is intended to help departments address annual rising costs.

The increase to $644.88 will be the first increase to the application fee in eight years – since February 2012.

The Service Fees Act includes a requirement that departments develop and meet service standards.
