Our priorities
What does Canada look like in five years, in a decade or in twenty years? It is a country defined by success and long-term stability. It is a reliable partner to provinces, territories, Indigenous Peoples, businesses, industry and international allies. It is a country united by shared interests and values and strengthened by the projects that build a prosperous and connected nation.
Under Budget 2025, the government committed to attracting more private capital by accelerating major projects, among other actions. This will enable up to $500 billion in private sector investment over five years, and up to $1 trillion in total investments.
This vision of economic resilience and trade connectivity is why the Major Projects Office was established. We are part of the foundation supporting continued and sustainable growth to unlock Canada’s full economic potential and build Canada strong.
To achieve these goals, our work focuses on two priorities.
Supporting projects and transformative strategies
We are a single federal point of contact for major projects referred to the Office. We coordinate across federal departments and work with provinces and territories, Indigenous Peoples, and private-sector participants to fast-track their development.

Building Indigenous capacity
The Government of Canada is building lasting prosperity and creating new economic opportunities alongside Indigenous Peoples. We work in partnership with Indigenous Peoples to ensure that major projects will contribute to long-term economic growth for Indigenous communities.
