August 29, 2025
Prime Minister Mark Carney launched the new Major Projects Office (MPO). The MPO’s mandate is to serve as a single point of contact to get nation-building projects built faster. It will do so in two principal ways. First, by streamlining and accelerating regulatory approval processes. Second, by helping to structure and coordinate financing of these projects as needed.

The Prime Minister convened the Métis Major Projects Summit in Ottawa to discuss the Building Canada Act and hear from Métis leaders on how best to work together. They discussed how the Building Canada Act will enable the Government of Canada to build big things that will connect and transform the national economy – driving greater prosperity for Métis through equity ownership and resource management projects.

The Prime Minister, Ministers, the President of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, Natan Obed, federal Cabinet ministers, and elected Inuit leadership from the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, Makivvik, and the Nunatsiavut Government gathered for a meeting of the Inuit-Crown Partnership Committee (ICPC) in Inuvik, Northwest Territories.
