When will I know if my declaration has been accepted?

All declarations will be reviewed after the declaration period ends in March 2026. You will be notified via email and through your portal account message centre if your declaration is accepted. See Submit a declaration for more information.

How was the value of my firearm determined?

Compensation amounts are based on in-depth research and consultation. Learn more about the program’s compensation model.

Can I make a declaration and submit a claim on behalf of someone else?

Declarations must be submitted by the firearm owner, except when an estate executor is authorized to act on behalf of the estate of a deceased individual. See Executors of estates with prohibited firearms for more information.
